The Portland Head Light is one of my favorite places to photograph.  I love coming here to capture its magnificent beauty.  Commissioned by George Washington in 1790, it went into service on January 10.1791 making it the oldest lighthouse in Maine.  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, a Portland resident, was friendly with the lighthouse keeper and was a frequent visitor. Portland Head Lighthouse was the inspiration for his famous poem "The Lighthouse".
